This campus fitness center, once outdated and underutilized, served as the sole gym for three different buildings, making accessibility, performance, and inclusivity essential. Our goal was to reimagine the space as a modern, welcoming destination that could support a wide range of fitness needs while remaining mindful of the budget.
The refresh introduced all new equipment and a renewed aesthetic guided by the client’s preference for calming blue tones. Although an expanded scope was initially envisioned, budget reductions required a more strategic approach. The final design preserves the ambition of the original concept, demonstrating how thoughtful planning and design can deliver strong impact without excess. Repetition of lighting elements unifies the space and establishes visual rhythm, while softer, organic forms were layered into the otherwise rectilinear footprint to introduce warmth and movement.
Locker rooms were elevated with a spa and hotel inspired sensibility, featuring refined finishes and durable wall cladding in the showers that enhance both performance and experience. The result is a revitalized fitness center that feels intentional, inclusive, and energizing, maximizing value, function, and design within real world constraints.
