Architect/Interior Designer

Full Time
Seattle, WA (On-site)
Salary: $60k-$120k/yr

JOB DESCRIPTION

Burgess Design is looking for an energetic, self-motivated interior designer or architect with minimum 3 years of experience to join our team. This new team member will have the desire to gain experience in corporate interior projects and some exterior renovation work while partnering with clients to create a meaningful transformation through architecture and interior design services.

ROLE
  • Participate in a high-energy, fast-paced, collaborative team and project environment.
  • Responsible for executing multiple projects at any one time with competing deadlines.
  • Actively works on drawings with experience in Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, and AutoCAD.
  • Understands code compliance for occupant load calculations, exit requirements, and wall rating requirements.
  • Support all phases of commercial office projects including test fits, schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
  • Assist with site verification documenting existing conditions.
  • Coordinate drawing packages with consultants and develop construction details as required for documentation to permit approval and then for construction documents.
  • Ability to define project goals, objectives, design intent, and concepts through client engagement, translating them into spaces that excel in both aesthetics and performance.
  • Assist with the curation of furniture and accessory packages
  • Conduct product research and data collection to curate product libraries and collections
  • Develop libraries of curated products and solutions informed by commercial furnishing research trends and typologies

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field
  • 3 years of experience in an Architectural Firm with experience in tenant improvement/ corporate interiors is preferred.
  • Strong AutoCAD and Revit skills preferred
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong verbal presentation and written communications skills
  • Proficient with SketchUp, Photoshop, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Office Suite products, hand sketching/detailing
  • Experience (or related experience) in permitting, product research, presentations, design, etc.

BOMA Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION

Burgess Design is looking for an energetic, self-motivated BOMA Specialist with minimum 3 years of experience to join our team. This new team member will have the desire to work with complex datasets and want to develop space accounting and commercial real estate measurement standards while also gaining experience in commercial tenant improvement projects. This role will create and maintain floor plans, stacking diagrams, control files, marketing plans, and lease exhibits while collaborating with design teams on test fits and tenant improvements. The ideal candidate has strong CAD/Revit skills, a working knowledge of BOMA standards, and experience interpreting architectural drawings.

  • Understands code compliance for occupant load calculations, exit requirements, and wall rating requirements.
  • Apply BOMA standards to measure and calculate building area. Ensuring accuracy and constancy across drawings, area calculations, and final reports
  • Perform documentation tasks including area calculations (rentable, usable, and common area classifications), drawings clean ups, and documentation packages.
  • Assist in reconciling discrepancies between drawings, field data, and client- provided documentation.
  • Ability to perform site walks and field verifications in various building environments. Duties may require walking, climbing stairs, moving through active construction or occupied spaces, and visually assessing site conditions.
  • Work closely with internal teams (production, QA/QC, and project management) to maintain quality and efficiency.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, or experience in commercial real estate documentation
  • Familiarity with BOMA standards (2017 / 2024) and terminology or other commercial measurement methodologies
  • Ability to reach and interpret construction documents, lease language, and exhibits
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong verbal presentation and written communications skills
  • Proficient with SketchUp, Photoshop, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Office Suite products, hand sketching/detailing
