By renovating an underutilized part of the BCS campus, we were able to reimagine spaces for new and existing programs. Telescoping bleachers and operable walls were added to the multipurpose room, and the weight room was relocated to an open area connected to the campus landscape through large glass garage doors. Classrooms were added in a location that was more functional and accessible to other classroom wings on campus while offering excellent views of Mount Rainier.
We maximized the transformation of spaces by revealing existing elements, clean bright finishes, and adding simple, functional, economical materials. In all areas, we introduced natural light and glazing. The multi-purpose room includes a new exterior enclosure to improve the building’s thermal performance. Landscaping at the project provided a grand stair connection to the balance of the campus.
